SkatePulse (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app for recording, grading, and discovering skate & longboard runs and skateparks. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built the app to collect as little as possible.

You’re anonymous by default

You can browse, record runs, race, and post reviews or condition reports without giving us your name or email. A random handle is generated for you. You only attach an email if you choose to “secure” your account (see below).

What we collect

Location. When you record or race a run, the app captures your GPS track so it can trace your line, measure distance/speed/grade, and (if you publish it) show the route on the map. Recording can continue with the screen off while you ride; it stops when you stop. We never track your location in the background when you aren’t recording.
Email address. Only if you choose to secure your account. We send a one-time code to verify it — we don’t use passwords. Your email lets your content stay yours across reinstalls and new phones.
Photos. If you add a photo to a run, spot, or condition report, that image is uploaded and shown to other users.
Profile. Your handle, display name, and optional avatar.
Content you post. Runs, spots, reviews, condition reports, and race attempts (times/speeds on the leaderboard).
Basic technical data. Like any internet service, our providers process your device’s IP address and standard request data to deliver map tiles, images, and data.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data.

What’s public

Runs and spots you publish, your reviews and condition reports, your photos, and your leaderboard times are visible to other users under your handle. Runs you mark Unlisted are hidden from the map but openable by anyone with the link; runs you mark Only me are visible only to you.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:

Supabase — database, file storage, and anonymous/email authentication.
Resend — delivers your one-time sign-in codes by email.
OpenFreeMap — serves the map tiles.
OpenStreetMap — source of imported skatepark locations.
Open-Meteo — returns current weather for a run; it receives the run’s approximate coordinates.
Google Play — app distribution.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your content while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and the content you own from inside the app (Profile → Account → “Delete account & data”), which erases your owned rows and your authentication record — see how to delete your account & data. Some content contributed to shared, community records (for example an anonymous condition report others rely on) may be retained in de-identified form.

Children

SkatePulse isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with our providers under row-level access controls so you can only change your own content. No system is perfectly secure, but we aim to keep your data safe.

Your choices

You can decline location permission (you can still browse), skip attaching an email, delete photos or content you posted, and delete your whole account. To ask a question or make a request, contact us below.
